Cookie Policy
Last updated: 18 August 2026
This Policy describes cookies and similar technologies used by LocalMatch. Only strictly necessary technologies are enabled by default.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files stored on a device. Equivalent technologies, including local storage and identifiers, may perform similar functions. LocalMatch uses them only for the purposes below.
2. Essential technologies
These are needed for security, authentication, fraud prevention, load balancing, session continuity and indispensable preferences. They do not require consent and cannot be disabled in our panel, although browser blocking may prevent the service from working.
3. Analytics
Analytics measures use, performance and navigation. LocalMatch uses PostHog, hosted in the European Union, and only after the user enables this category: while there is no valid consent, PostHog is not loaded and no pageviews or events are sent. Once consent is given, we collect: pages visited; product actions, namely authentication, sign-up steps viewed, completed or abandoned, match creation, joining and leaving a match, payment start and review submission; application errors; and technical characteristics of the device, the browser and the IP address. For signed-in users, the account identifier, email address, name and user type are attached, so that sessions belonging to the same person can be told apart. PostHog stores an identifier in the device's local storage. Analytics events are retained for 12 months. Withdrawing consent stops collection immediately and clears that identifier from the device; to erase events already collected, write to support@local-match.com.
4. Marketing
Marketing technologies, if used, measure campaigns or personalise communications. They remain off until specific consent. Refusal does not prevent bookings or essential features.
5. Choice and withdrawal
On the first visit, users may accept, reject or configure categories with equal ease. Rejection applies until a valid choice is made. The panel can be reopened here; withdrawal applies to future processing.
6. Preference storage
The choice is stored on the device, in local storage, under cookie_consent. The record includes the categories chosen, the date, and the version of this Policy the choice relates to. When the Policy changes substantially the version changes and the panel asks again — a choice made against an earlier text does not carry over. Consent lasts a maximum of six months; after that the panel asks again, even if the Policy has not changed.
